2024 and Q1 2025 VEIL CATCHUP

NonKYC Exchange continues to lead the trading liquidity of VEIL due to the unique aspects of the exchange where anyone can contribute to off-chain liquidity pools for any coin pair you like, while the leading pairs are with XMR, USDT, and BTC. The VEIL light wallet continues to allow people to hold their own Veil without having to host a full node wallet. Staking and mining multiple algos continue without fail. Opportunities for developers and volunteers to support the private transactions Veil community are available. Some incentive rewards apply.

VEIL on centralised EXCHANGEs

  • The Bitcoin world has been focussed throughout the past year on corporate and political pumping of the Bitcoin price, but the faithful in the Veil community, some would say “Veiliens” stay true to the necessity for personal finances to be private. This has never been more important as Artificial Intelligence continues to gain ground, making surveillance ever more pervasive. Many people felt some relief when overwhelmingly statist governments and corporate forces had a set-back at the end of lhe last year, but wars, and countless hoards of malicious people and bots continue to target people for their belief in freedom, decency, and humanity, threatening to make even the survival of someone they disagree with very tenuous!
  • NonKYC Exchange lists our VEIL privacy coin with low-fees trading against Monero (XMR), Bitcoin (BTC), and Tether (USDT), while the liquidity pools keep the spread tight and transactions regular, if not high volume. Any user can add liquidity to the liquidity pools and farm the trading fees without any cost imposed by the liquidity pools. You can even launch your own liquidity pairs whether or not there is a set market for that pair. An example is Litecoin (LTC) to VEIL, or any of a hundred others. The ability to deposit and withdraw on NonKYC using Veil Stealth (CT and RingCT) addresses makes this exchange the only exchange that the RingCT-only Veil Light Wallet users can use.
  • Probit exchange and TradeOgre exchange recent trade volume is rather sporadic, as much of the volume moved to NonKYC, but it is still there, and a good amount of buying has been done there at prices that were not available on NonKYC. These two exchanges offer VEIL-USDT and VEIL-BTC markets, with both markets on Probit, and only the BTC market on TradeOgre. Remember that Probit requires some KYC verification while TradeOgre and NonKYC do not. Also, you have to use the Debug Console or command line with the Veil Core wallet in order to deal with the basecoin addresses of these two exchanges for both deposits and withdrawals.

VEIL light Mobile Wallet is available for new and casual Veil users

  • Do not forget about the light wallet freshly launched on Android, iOS (via AltStore), Windows, macOS, and Linux. This is all Open Source, with multilingual support for in several major languages (EN), Esperanto (EO), Spanish (ES), and Russian (RU), and supports Android, iOS, Windows, and Ubuntu Linux. Check Veil Wallet at veilproject.org for details and download links. Volunteer to add your own mega-language!
  • We provide the default server back-end for the light wallet, but you can provide your own, using your Veil Core wallet and the Light Wallet API created by our OG dev blondfrogs with the Veil 1.4 wallet.

Veil incentives

  • There is a handful of Veil faithful maintaining testnet staking wallets both for their own education and for monthly incentive bounties, as this makes the testnet available for everyone. The Veil project maintains an explorer and Veil Tools for information and to provide the downloadable snapshots that people need if they are just getting started with their full node Veil core wallet.
  • VEIL-STATS is back! A Veil user has brought the veil-stats.com server back online! Many an insight for stakers and miners has been made available through this community Veil-Stats initiative!

VEIL DEX initiative

  • The first nodes for BasicSwapDEX enabling non-custodial Veil trading with other privacy coins will likely come from the ranks of the people in the incentivised testnet group, and others in the Veil team. This is open for all, and when it is completed is up to the community in-general. We are not restricting ourselves to just this DEX, but there may be others, just as years ago we got onto the Bisq DEX, although that has fallen away due to lack of use on Bisq outside the BTC-XMR pair.

Veil faucet on Discord

This faucet in our Veil Discord is still being used every day. You are welcome to try it, especially if you are a new Veil user, and maybe you are using only the light Veil Wallet (once per day, per user, directly onto your requested stealth address). Experience for yourself stealth and RingCT transactions on Veil!

State of the previously-announced RingCT-only staking (zerocoin-removed) wallet development

Due to the low Veil price existing developers have not prioritised work on moving staking from zerocoin to RingCT. They have gone on to work on other things or to concentrate on their studies and what have you. While being tested on the development network (“devnet”) there were blocks being staked using zerocoin as well as those staked using RingCT utxos, the devnet has since been stopped. Developers are able to run their own “regtest” or other network for testing if they get back to work, but be assured that unless a new proposed consensus upgrade is in every way an improvement to the current staking method we enjoy, it will not be deployed. we will not deploy an upgrade that introduces problems. Please note that (with our existing live network) so long as the zerocoins you currently are staking with are minted from RingCT utxos, they are still private. Staking and triple-algo proof of work on Veil are well proven. Also, since a few months into 2019 it was firmly decided to retain proof of work for our Veil blockchain, having several benefits that we definitely do not want to give up.

Core development and team

It is a high priority at the Veil Project to pursue decentralisation and to transition away from former contributors who have not maintained their efforts. If you know of people who have an exceptional understanding of Applied Cryptography, ZK Proofs, zkSNARKs, and such things, like serious mathematicians, and have goals aligned with the Veil, cryptocurrency and Bitcoin community, they would be ideal candidates. We have a number of textbook PDFs for others who would like a refresher. This also applies to back-end server hosting. While the team has multiple redundant servers providing network support, including a block explorer, and snapshot download creation and hosting, we would like to have more than one of each hosted independently, so that a random health issue or reliance on one person paying hosting bills does not bring some service down that people find useful. Of course, the blockchain itself is decentralised, and miners and stakers independently make that happen. By having both staking and mining, Veil is made much stronger, and by learning how this works on our testnet, there are community members who understand how mining and staking support the strength of the network.

The markets

As with many other coins, the VEIL price has not kept up with Bitcoin in the past year, however, the fluctating trading range does provide opportunities for traders to buy low and sell high(er). A recovery has a long way to go. Even the attaining of a fraction of the 2019 trading range in Bitcoin price would provide solid market capitalisation that will attract developers and traders again. The people who donate some of their time in the lean years are the real Veil legends. It is easy for a tycoon to pump a coin, but that is not our reason to exist. Veil provides a good privacy solution that you may or may not like to combine with other privacy coins of legitimate heritage, and when others come, even just two or three moderately well-funded individuals making a substantial staking commitment the very low supply of Veil will show how important that is, compared to the meme coins with billions in supply.
